Excellent Info on AI Usage by Consumers

In addition to the more dental AI applications most of us are becoming familiar with, AI has made huge inroads into every day usage by every day Americans.  Since ChatGPT rocked the world in February 2023, AI has made rapid advancements and possibly even more rapid penetration into everyone's every day lives.

Personally I don't think a day goes by where I don't here AI usage mentioned, even in casual conversations.  Now I'll gladly admit that might be due to the people I regularly interact with, but still I think we can all agree that usage of AI systems for a lot of tasks is becoming more and more common.

Recently I became aware of some pretty good consumer research on how US residents are using AI in their everyday lives.  It's a fairly long read with lots of charts, but I thought it was very well done.  The survey provides some really good information and each section is followed by insights into the subjects as well as the percentages involved in the answers.  Here's a snippet to help you understand why I was intrigued:

For more than two decades, Google has been considered the gold standard for online information quality. But new research from Joe Youngblood, Dallas-based SEO strategist and marketing theorist, reveals that trust is shifting.

In a national survey of 1,151 U.S. adults, 48.39% of Americans still rank Google as the top-quality source of information. However, among heavy AI users (those who engage with AI systems daily), Google’s lead shrinks by nearly eight points, while ChatGPT surges to 35.26%.

The survey was put together by the folks at Joe Youngblood, which is an SEO agency.  This nice thing about this is that the company has a vested interest in learing how consumers are using the Interneet
