New Study finds U.S. Fluoride Exposure linked to Better Adolescent Cognitive Performance

Today's post is another great one courtesy of ADA News.  As we all know, the fluoride issue has been a huge newsmaker this year.  One of the big issues that the anti-fluoridation lobby has pushed hard is that fluoride causes lower IQ.

Let me first state that it's been shown through multiple studies that fluoride is safe at the recommended dosages to prevent dental decay.   There is no question in my mind on that fact.  Like any substance, fluoride is dangerous at *high* levels.  Heck, even drinking too much water can be fatal.   However, when fluoride is consumed at the recommended dosage, it is most likely the greatest public health initiative in the history of the human race.

Now, we have a new study titled "Childhood fluoride exposure and cognition across the life course" that again shows the safety of fluoride.

The ADA News has a nice summary of the study.  That article has a link to the actual study, but if you're curious and want to jump right to it, click here for the full study in Science Advances.
