As AI continues to make progress into clinical dentistry, we're going to see more and more tools become available. A few years ago I become aware of Diagnocat, an AI system that can analyze CBCT. At the time it was not yet available in the US, but I had a chance to spend some time with the system. It was pretty impressive and performs some pretty amazing analysis. In October 2025, Diagnocat received FDA clearance and is now available for US dentists to use.
I recently became aware of a case report the company has released from Dr. Jayati Pandey, BDS, MDS who is an endodontist. It contains info on how a difficult endodontic case was made easier and communication better through the use of AI. Visual communication is a huge benefit in dentistry. Most humans only retain about 10% of what they hear, but around 85% of what they see. Helping patients understand their situation by using images makes a tremendous difference.
