ioSafe Chips in to Help Businesses Affected by Hurricanes Irma and Harvey

It always gives me a warm feeling to see people helping others who are in need.  To that end, my good friends at ioSafe are offering the following help to hose recently impacted by the hurricanes here in the U.S.
Here is the info they sent me.  Way to go ioSafe!  This is just one reason that I’m a customer.

We’d like to offer a helping-hand to those affected by Irma and Harvey, but let me preface the nitty-gritty by saying that we sincerely hope that none of you were impacted or, if you were, that it was only replaceable property that was lost. That said, here’s what we’ll be doing.

  • Free fireproof/waterproof external hard drives. Got a water-damaged hard drive? Let us know and we’ll a send you a Solo G3. No strings, no cost. We’ll even cover shipping. We do, however, have one small request. We’re only going to be able to send out a limited number of these and would like to ensure they reach the people who can’t easily afford to replace their damaged equipment. Therefore, please don’t ask for a drive unless you really need it. In other words, if you have insurance or enough funds to be able to comfortably cover the costs, please go that route instead. There'll be a limit of one per person. Once we’ve exhausted the supply of free units, we’ll be offering discounted pricing.
  • Discounted fireproof/waterproof servers, NAS and BDR. While we can’t offer these devices at no-cost, we’re in the process of putting a discount program in place for those in affected areas covering our servers2-bay NAS5-bay NAS and BDR appliances. I can’t share any details yet as to what the pricing will be - we’re still crunching the numbers to work out how low we can go - but we’ll be discounting as deeply as we can. If you're in a particularly sticky situation - a small business whose losses aren't going to be covered by insurance - let us know and we'll do what we can to help. Our aim here is to help you get back to business as quickly as possible with a better, more resilient infrastructure. That’s good for everyone.

We’ll be running these programs for at least the next 2-weeks, and likely longer. We’re not limiting this to Spiceheads, the programs are open to all, so pass along the details as you wish.

Note: if you need data recovered from a water-damaged device, our awesome friends at DriveSavers Data Recovery  are providing no-cost recovery services for people in affected areas. You can read more about that here.

Feel free to shoot me a message with any general questions or email to request a G3 or ask about the discount program. Be sure to include in the email the fact that it's an Irma/Harvey-related request. Note that replies may be slightly delayed depending on the volume of requests.

UpdateBweber93   asked, 'If we're not in an affected area is there any option to have a full-price purchase count towards donations towards victims or those affected?' We're going to do it! Purchase any non-discounted product between now and the end of the month using coupon code 'Spiceworks' and we'll donate 20% of the price to the Red Cross's relief efforts. Thanks for the suggestion, Brody!

Final reminder: feel free to order as many products as you like under the discount program, but please keep the free G3s for the folks that need them the most.

Update: Unsurprisingly, we're being inundated with requests, many of which tell heartbreaking stories. We're working through them as quickly as we can, but it may take a few days for us to get back to you. Sit tight, you'll not be forgotten.
