Drobo Announces 4 Bay Third Generation Device

Drobo 3rd Generation.png
In today's digital world it just seems like you can never have enough storage. For a digital pack rat like me going through hard drives and deleting things to free up space has become a thing of the past. With massive storage readily available to anyone and operating systems that allow for quick, thorough, and efficient searching, it sometimes almost seems crazy to delete something you might need at some point in the future.
Combine that need with the affordable price of hard drives these days and  your digital world simply continues to expand.
That's why I was excited to hear about the latest offering from Drobo. The new third-generation device offers several improvements over its predecessors.
The new Gen 3 features the following improvements:
  •  Faster connection, processor, and more memory
  • Support for Apple Time Machine backup. The user can create a specific backup volume with only one click
  • USB 3.0 connectivity
  • Onboard battery backup. This means that in the event of a power failure you won't lose data
  • Single or dual drive redundancy. The new Gen 3 can have 2 hard drives fail simultaneously and yet still not lose any data
  • Instant expansion up to 24 TB. This means you can add new drives or replace smaller drives with larger ones simply and easily

The good folks at Drobo have even come up with an upgrade plan for existing users. Current customers can purchase a Gen3 device with a full manufacturer warranty at $50 off MSRP.

For all the details on this device and all the others in the Drobo family, head on over to the company website.
