Yahoo Mail Suffers Critical Outage

Yahoo Logo.jpg
On Monday evening, Yahoo mail went down unexpectedly and remains down for some users as I type this.
It seems that POP accounts have been restored, but IMAP accounts are still down.
On Tuesday the company said, "The issue has been harder to fix than we originally expected. We have dozens of people working around the clock to bring it to a resolution," it wrote in a blog post. "We believe our current efforts will restore our users' access to their inboxes by 3 p.m. PT today. …"  However, that time came and went without a solution.

One of the big problems for Yahoo in all of this is that users have become spoiled with an "always on" service and rely on it heavily.  When it goes down, many are left without no way to communicate.  Bad news for them...

The good news is that they got POP back and are working hard to restore IMAP as well.  Honestly, I'm surprised these situations don't happen more often.
