AT&T Begins Sending Warnings to Top Data Consumers on Mobile Network

AT&T Warning.jpg
This wont' be a rant against AT&T.  Far from it.  In fact, I'm going to say that what they are doing is the right thing to do.  They have begun sending text messages to users that are in the top 5% of data users informing them of that fact and encouraging them to use the WiFi functions on their phones to help unclog the network and give everyone more bandwidth.
The point is that there are some users on every network that begin to overuse and that creates a problem for all of us.  If the network is sluggish because someone is downloading videos & I can't get my email, that could be a problem.  So AT&T is asking those that use the most to see if they can't cut back a bit.
Personally I think this is a good idea.  No threats, no throttling (as of yet) to the user's account, just a friendly reminder that they need to be cognizant of their usage.  Other carriers have done similar things and have even cut back on bandwidth for some users.  This is AT&T's way of trying to not be forced into that.
