In the quest for more speed, an amazing thing has been announced. Hard drive company Seagate and chip manufacturer AMD have a prototype Baracuda hard drive with an AMD chipset that will transfer data at a blazing 6gb/s. How amazing is that?
This is basically double the speed of current SATA drives. What's even better is that this isn't some demo shown in a lab somewhere with a due date sometime when the kids graduate from college. These drives are slated to be available in the first half of 2009. That means sometime in the next 3 months or so these bad boys will be available. Wow!
