Impressions from the Hinman Meeting

I just returned yesterday from the Thomas P. Hinman meeting in Atlanta. The Hinman is a wonderful meeting and if you've never attended you really do owe it to yourself to go. Here are my overall impressions after spending time there and having a chance to discuss things with both attendees and vendors.

Atlanta was in tiptop shape for the meeting. Although there were stories swapped about last year's tornado, the weather was beautiful and everything was ready to go. I didn't get to hear attendance figures, but things looked very busy.

Attendees were excited about being at the Hinman meeting and are excited about practicing dentistry and caring for their patients. Economic doom & gloom talk seemed to be non-existent (at least I didn't hear any).

Vendors reported good sales with no mention of a struggling economy. Attendees seemed to be interested in purchasing. Several of the vendors I talked with reported sales higher than they expected. Traffic on the show floor was good for most of the meeting and overall vendors were very happy.

I was fortunate to have some time in my schedule to visit the show floor and I got a chance to see an interesting idea in endo that is being developed. I can't say more about it yet, but it looks promising at this point and as soon as I can, I'll make a post on it.

In closing, thanks to all the of the good people at the Hinman dental society for such a wonderful time and thanks to all of you who were gracious enough to attend one of my lectures. I had a blast!
