I've been a big fan of Palm for a very long time. I was one of those geeky early adopters that bought one of the very early Palm Pilots (back before Pilot Pen sued and they changed their name to Palm). I would eagerly await the release of each new device and spend time at stores looking at them as I decided which one I just had to have.
When the Treo line was introduced I was in heaven and bought each one as they became available. That changed last year. I had been using my Palm Treo 700P for a couple of years. The device was semi-buggy and had seen better days. However, there really hadn't been an OS update in years and the iPhone was changing the world. I still liked the Palm and was comfortable with the OS, but it just wasn't the device I needed or wanted anymore. Palm had been passed by which was sad because it was a genre they pretty much had invented. I bought a Samsung Instinct.
Now, Palm has come roaring back. Their latest device is the Palm Pre and features a slide out keyboard, brand new OS, and lots of other great features. The device was impressive enough to win Best in Show at the CES. Welcome back Palm! I didn't think you had it in you!
