DPRWorld Wrap UP

Whew! I'm in the airport in Las Vegas and getting ready to head home. DPRWorld is over for me (although the exhibits will continue to be open today). The session concluded with a Moderator's Panel which took all the moderators and put us on stage to answer questions from the audience as well as written questions that were not covered during the programs due to time constraints. We had 1 hour for this wrap up and could easily have used more time. Good questions and good audience interaction. This is my favorite way to end an event like this.

My overall impressions:

  1. Great format! Lots of info delivered in easy to digest nuggets in short presentations. AIt keeps it lively for the audience when there is a new expert every 15 minutes. From a speaker's point, it's actually much harder to prepare for a short lecture, but the end result was worth it.
  2. Great venue! The Mandalay Bay hosts big events and was really prepared for this. It was a much better event due to the location than trying to have it in another locale. The lecture hall was high tech and well done. Good planning by Advanstar and good execution by the on site staff.
  3. Attendance. Less than I would have liked to see, but from the feedback I received from attendees, those that were there were glad they made the trip. As an inaugural event you can expect some hiccups and the only one I noticed was this. It may well have been because people weren't sure about a brand new event (we dentists are a conservative bunch!), but the people I spoke with were very happy with the experience they received.
  4. My experience. I had an awesome time.
  5. Up next? DPRWorld09, held again in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay, May 28 – 30, 2009. See you there.
