Samsung Instinct from Sprint

When I first saw this, I thought it was an April Fool's joke, but now it appears to be for real.

This is the Samsung Instinct. Look familiar? This device will help Sprint compete with the iPhone.

The device comes with EV-DO Rev. A, a full HTML browser, Visual Voicemail, TV, GPS, navigation and more. That more would be Bluetooth, audible caller ID, memory that is expandable up to 8GB, a 2MP still camera/video camera, voice activated functions, and the abilitly to function as a modem.

The big plus for me is the Sprint network. I love the iPhone, but the AT&T network is too slow currently for me. That's why I've stayed with Sprint and my now ancient Treo 700P.

However, you can bet I'll be standing in line for the Instinct. A cool phone with a great network is just what I've been waiting for.

Availability is rumored to be June.

  1. You'll want to read endgadget's review of the instincts paltry performance. Combine that with the very probable June release of the 16 and 32gb release of the 3G-enabled iPhone with (rumored) dual cameras to enable video conferencing from your handheld phone, you might reconsider.

  2. Hi Lee,

I did comb the endgadget review. Not sure what to think as the Instinct is still not released. Jobs didn't show the iPhone until it was ready for prime time.

As far as the 3G iPhone, it'll still be on the AT&T network which is my only real beef with it. I love the speed of the Sprint network. If the iPhone would have been available there, I'd have been camped out last June to get one!
