Storwize USB Initialization Tool may contain malicious code

IBM logo.jpeg

It seems that some people that purchased an IBM Storwize disk rack lately received a little something extra with the purchase.  The device comes with a USB stick contained the initialization tool on it.  However, some unlucky people also got malware loaded on it as well.  This means that putting the USB drive into a port would infect whatever was attached to it.  A nice little present that you wouldn’t really be expecting from a piece of equipment you just took out of the box.

IBM put the information on a support page, but unfortunately, the page doesn’t have any information on how the malware got on there or an apology for the mess it creates.  It’s more technical info on what to do.
