I'll confess that I am sometimes a digital packrat. By that I mean I tend to not delete many items (hard drive space being what it is) and I also have a tendency not to want to get rid of hardware either. The four phones in the picture above were all state of the art when I bought them. Now this kind of picture usually gets some laughs.
However, there is a great article in the New York Times about people who want to hang onto their legacy products.
Some people have sentimental reasons while some just really are hooked on an older device that they don't want to have to replace.
Because of those needs, there are actually repair folks making a living from fixing old worn out gear. Check out the article for all the details. It is definitely worth a read.
