Competition is good… and if you live in Austin, it's even better.

It seems that Google Fiber is coming to Austin next and in a direct response to that, Time Warner is rolling out Free We-Fi hotspots, according to a blog post from Time Warner.  It states "We've been rolling out our free WiFi network across our footprint for some time now, as part of our larger strategy to offer significantly more value to our Internet subscribers.  Austin was in the game plan for 2013.  But Google's recent announcement encouraged us to deploy our network more aggressively now."

So if you live in Austin, it looks like life is good.

However, if you are a Time Warner customer, don't feel left out.  http://timewarnercable.cellmaps.com/WiFi.html#/#c=38.8671878,-94.70188999999999&z=13&term=66221
will take you to a map of Austin.  Just put your city or zip in the search bar at the top to locate hotspots in your area.

There is also an app on Android & iOS.  Just search for TWC WiFi Finder.

We’ve been rolling out our free WiFi network across our footprint for some time now, as part of our larger strategy to offer significantly more value to our Internet subscribers. Austin was in the game plan for 2013. But Google’s recent announcement encouraged us to deploy our network more aggressively now. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, we’re ready to compete.
