The EDA and AADOM join together to help Office Managers make eco-friendly practices a priority
Berkeley, CA (August 14, 2012) The Eco-Dentistry Association and AADOM have joined forces to support office managers around the country in adopting greener practices in the dental office. The “Green Leaders” partnership, funded by a generous grant from the Henry Schein Cares Foundation, aims to educate dental office managers on the environmental and bottom-line benefits of implementing digital modalities, and waste, energy and water-reducing initiatives in the dental practice. The initiative also focuses on helping office managers to authentically reach the burgeoning market of wellness lifestyle dental patients.
In addition to EDA Co-Founder Ina Pockrass presenting a free webinar to AADOM’s members in May on the money- saving benefits of green practice, the EDA will host a booth at the AADOM Conference in early September 2012 where both organizations will recognize office managers for their green achievements. Through the remainder of 2012, Dental Office Manager Members of AADOM are eligible to receive a complimentary one-year membership with the Eco- Dentistry Association and vice versa. Both organizations aim to stimulate practices to enroll in the EDA’s green dental office certification program, called GreenDOCTM, and to support office managers in developing their green leadership skills.
“We know that successful dental office managers keep abreast of the latest advancements in dentistry and going green in the dental office is a critical aspect of our industry’s future”, says AADOM Executive Director Lisa Forsberg. “Going green in the dental office is not only the right thing to do, but it helps dental practices thrive, and every office manager is committed to that.”
Throughout the partnership, the EDA will provide educational resources and technical assistance to AADOM and its members about the significant environmental impact of the dental industry and how easy-to-implement strategies can reduce the practice footprint and support the practice in achieving greater financial success. “There's a misperception that being a good environmental steward costs more,” says EDA Co-Founder Ina Pockrass. “In reality, going green not only saves money, it helps attract and retain new, high-quality patients, as well as maximizing staff efficiency and doctor productivity, resulting in healthier practice financial performance.”
About the EDA
The EDA offers dental professionals’ practical tips on incorporating eco-friendly dental methods and practices, and offers the public access to dental professionals that share their values of wellness and environmental stewardship. The organization was co-founded by Dr. Fred Pockrass, a dentist, and his entrepreneur wife, Ina Pockrass, who together created the model for eco-friendly dentistry, and operate their own award-winning dental practice in Berkeley, California, the first in the country to be certified as a green business. They formed the organization to stimulate a movement in the dental industry to employ environmentally-sound practices, like reducing waste and pollution, saving energy, water and money, incorporating wellness-based methods and the best technological advances in dentistry.
