It was a whirlwind trip for me, but I wanted to give a big Thank You to Dentrix for inviting me to speak at the Business of Dentistry Conference yesterday. The whirlwind part? I needed to return home Friday night for some family obligations on Saturday. That meant I lectured until 5:30 and then literally walked out of the lecture room, out of the hotel, into a waiting car, and straight to the airport. Of course, as luck would have it, my flight was delayed. That resulted in me actually getting into my house at a couple of minutes before 3:00 a.m. Travel is so glamourous until one actually has to do it! :-)
However, I've got to give a lot of credit to the gang at Dentrix. This meeting was well attended, well supported, and fantastically well organized. Held at the Red Rock Resort & Casino just outside of Las Vegas, the venue was a refreshing change of pace for me. If you've never been to the Red Rock and you'd like to go to Vegas without really "going to Vegas" (if you get my drift) this resort is a tremendous way to do just that.
The Business of Dentistry Conference continues to grow every year, with almost a 40% attendance increase over last year. While some meetings have seen their numbers fall over the last few years, boutique meetings like this one that focus on a core group of interested offices may well be what we see more of in the future.
I was truly honored to be part of this meeting. While it's been held for several years now, this was the first year they decided to expand it into the realm of clinical topics. Previous years featured topics dealing with practice management and software, but this year they decided to change it up a bit. I spoke on Cone Beam Computed Tomography, helping to educate dentists about what this amazing new technology is about & what it can do to improve quality of care.
So, thanks to Dentrix and thanks also to all the doctors and staff that attended my talks yesterday. I had a great time!!!
