Blockbuster Titles now Available on Tivo

I wondered where Blockbuster went. There used to be 2 of their brick and mortar stores within a 3 mile radius of my house and now they are both gone. Of course, their business model has changed and with that change they don't need nearly as many retail stores.

Now Blockbuster has forged an alliance with Tivo to list their titles for a rental fee of $4. Users of the Tivo service can select from the Blockbuster menu and then download a movie for viewing.

Tivo also offers this service through Amazon (I've tried it and it works well) and Netflix as well.

The ability to download and watch is pretty amazing. It certainly beats going out when all you want to do is stay in (especially when there is a predicted huge snow storm coming to the heartland today).

I'm not sure what Blockbuster brings to this deal that Tivo didn't already have with its other partners, but choice is always a good thing.
