Daschle discusses His vision for Healthcare

Here is an interesting tidbit from the new administration courtesy of the AGD:

The Secretary-designate of Health & Human Services, former Senator Thomas Daschle, appeared before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee to begin the first step in his confirmation process. Mr. Daschle, who also has been named by President-elect Obama as the head of a new White House Office of Health Reform, discussed in very broad terms his vision for overhauling the nation’s health care system.

Specifically, Mr. Daschle promises to focus on covering the 47 million uninsured Americans, altering the Medicare reimbursement system to focus more on prevention and to pay providers for “episodes of care,” and investing in HIT in order to develop a national system of interoperable electronic medical records.
